ABOUT EL CAMINO METRO

El Camino Metro started as a series of meetings in a classroom of a local college in Los Angeles. Led by Jim Tolle, the gatherings grew rapidly into a thriving church-planting endeavor, as well as a brand new Christian college to take up the void left by all the other Christian colleges which had moved away from the city of Los Angeles. Offering its services in both English and Spanish, Metro has been seeking to serve the city’s population, especially its large latino community. Today, dozens of new churches dot the city’s landscape, with hundreds having graduated from its College and Institute.

Jim is also widely known for having hosted a daily Spanish language program "Respuestas" reaching millions across the U.S. on the Radio Inspiración Network. As a bilingual leader, Jim has often been called upon to share his insights with television, radio, and print media, including CBN, CNN, Fox Español, Univisión and Salem Broadcasting Network. Jim has served as a pastor in Colombia and Argentina, as well as the U.S. at the aforementioned The Church On The Way, which was one of the largest multicultural churches in the United States during his tenure. Today, his organization, El Camino Metro, has become an incubator for new leaders who have begun more than 50 other congregations. One of these new ventures is overseen by one of his sons.  Having begun in 2018, VIDA Church has grown rapidly, first in rented facilities and now in their own property (See VIDA Church).

Jim is also passionate about helping people improve their lives through personal development and education. He has served on the boards of directors of several schools in the private and public school systems. Pastor Jim is the president of El Camino Christian College, a school which he and his friend, Dr. Paul Chappell started in 2013, which helps low-income students obtain college degrees (see: El Camino Christian College).

In his early adult years, Jim Tolle served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army and later became an entrepreneur, starting a number of successful small businesses. Jim is happily married to his wife, Alice, and lives in Los Angeles near their close-knit family.
